Checking Ohio Cosmetology License Status

Ohio manages cosmetology license renewals through the “eLicense” system. If you have an Ohio cosmetology, esthetician, hair designer, or manicurist license then you can check your license status online.

Take the following steps to register an eLicense account:

  1. Go to https://elicense.ohio.gov
  2. Go to the License Verification section
  3. Enter either your first and last name or your license number “Cosmetology and Barber Board”
  4. Click Search.

NOTE: Having trouble looking up your license? Some licenses are still in the system as “management licenses” with the COSM and MANM prefixes. Go figure, right?

  1. Scroll down and you should see either “Active” or “Inactive” for the license status:
